Keeping Your Card Information Safe

Though the possibility that you will face card fraud is still low, plastic card compromise is on the upswing at home and abroad. While there is no way that we, or any other financial institution, can stop criminals from compromising merchant databases, ActorsFCU has taken steps to ensure that any inconvenience you may face will be minimized as much as possible.

Personal Identification Number (PIN)

You are assigned or may choose a four-digit code – a Personal Identification Number (PIN) — that must be entered for any PIN transaction. We recommend that you never disclose your PIN to anyone. If you think someone may have watched you enter it, or if you gave it out and regret it, you can stop by Member Services to change it anytime and as many times as you like.

Activating Your Card

Card activation protects you from fraudulent use of a new card that you haven’t yet received. Cards are shipped to you in “inactive” status, with an assigned PIN sent separately. Activation steps must be taken using information that is known only to you by calling a toll-free number and providing personal data.

Card Verification Values (CVV)

In order to protect transactions that take place over the Internet, by mail, by fax, or over the phone—anytime you’re not there in person—merchants will often ask for the Card Verification Values (CVV). The three-digit CVV security code follows the signature panel on the back of your card.

Name Matching

Name matching compares the name on the magnetic stripe of your card with the name we have on file for you.  Mismatches prompt transactions to be declined.

Address Verification

Address verification allows merchants to verify your billing address during transactions where you are not physically present, such as those made over the phone, by fax, mail, or online.

Expiration Date

With every transaction, we ensure that the expiration date embossed on your card matches the expiration date we have on file for your card.

Inactive Status

We place your card on inactive status when we notice you haven’t used it within the last 12 months.  Just call Member Services whenever you want to start using it again.

Daily Limits

ActorsFCU has set in place daily spending limits and daily transaction limits to protect your account in the event of any compromise.

Falcon Fraud-Detection System

ActorCash VISA Debit Cards and ActorsFCU’s VISA and MasterCard credit cards are protected by the Falcon Fraud-Detection System. Our agents at Falcon will contact you in the event that suspicious activity is detected on your VISA Debit Card, VISA credit card, or MasterCard. On rare occasions, if our agents are not able to contact you to verify a transaction is yours, it is possible that this system will prevent you from making a legitimate purchase that is out of your normal activity pattern. If that happens, just follow the directions below.
