How to Safeguard Your Account

<

1. Do not give out personal information

It is never advisable to provide your non-public information over the phone unless you initiated the call. It is rarely a good idea to provide sensitive information by email.  Scammers often use phone calls and emails to 'phish' for information.  Please note - ActorsFCU will never call you to request non-public information such as account, card, or social security numbers.

2. Keep your login credentials secure

First, do not allow web browsers, apps, or other programs on your computer, tablet, or smartphone to store or “remember” your usernames and passwords.  This piece of advice applies to credit and debit card numbers too.  Second, use strong passwords that contain upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.  Third, do not use the same password for multiple accounts.  Lastly, change your passwords regularly.

3. Be wary of shared computers and public Wi-Fi

Generally speaking, it is not advisable to make purchases or access your online banking on a shared computer.  If you fail to log off, the next person to use the computer may have access to your account.  It is also advisable to avoid making purchases and accessing online banking while using public Wi-Fi.  If the Wi-Fi network is free and not password protected, it’s best to assume it is not secure.

4. Answer calls from our Falcon Fraud Alert System

ActorsFCU has a fraud detection and notification system in place known as Falcon.  If transactions on your ActorsFCU-issued debit or credit card deviate from your normal spending patterns, Falcon may call you to verify the transaction(s).  Falcon often notices purchases for large dollar amounts, and purchases outside of your normal geographic area.  It is important that you answer your phone when Falcon calls, otherwise, your credit or debit card may be put on hold for your own protection.

5. Stay informed with eAlerts from ActorsFCU

ActorsFCU offers a free eAlerts service to notify you of activity on your account.  Once your custom alerts are set up in eBranch, you will receive notifications by email and/or text message.  eAlerts can be triggered by a deposit, a withdrawal, or a change in your account balance, helping you identify unexpected transactions and fraudulent activity.

6. Protect yourself with CardNav

ActorsFCU offers a free smartphone app called CardNav that is designed to give you control over how, when, and where your ActorsFCU debit card can be used.  Using CardNav to set up your own restrictions and alerts goes a long way towards eliminating unwanted or fraudulent transactions.  CardNav is one of the best ways to safeguard your account.
