Joining The Credit Union

Actors Federal Credit Union is excited to welcome members of the Entertainment Community! If you belong to Actors' Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA, or any of our 150+ approved membership organizations, you are eligible to join the credit union. Young performers (under age 18) are also welcome to open Coogan Accounts without union affiliation.

Immediate family members of current ActorsFCU members are also eligible to join. Family members include but are not limited to spouse/domestic partner, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, and grandchildren. However, a completed Certification of Relationship Form will be required along with their membership application.

ActorsFCU offers a special Union Initiation Loan to help you cover the costs of joining Actors' Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA, or the union of your choice.

Reasons to join ActorsFCU

It only takes $100 to join ActorsFCU and as long as you leave that money in your savings account, there are no other minimum balance requirements or monthly fees to worry about. We're a non-profit. Our non-profit status allows us to offer fewer fees and better rates than for-profit banks.
We're a co-operative. All of our members are equal owners of the credit union, with the right vote on important credit union matters.
We're community minded. Our credit union was founded in 1962 specifically to serve members of Actors' Equity Association. Although we've expanded through the years, we still maintain a closed membership which means that only professionals from approved groups in the entertainment industry are allowed to join.

Low minimum balance requirements. Maintain at least $100 in your share savings account and you won't pay any monthly fees to maintain your account.
Free checking. Our free Power Checking account has no monthly or annual fees, and no minimum balance requirements. Better yet, our Power Checking account comes with a free VISA debit card with Member Rewards. Earn reward points every time you use your card!
Access to low-cost loans. Credit unions have long been known for their favorable loan rates, ActorsFCU is no exception. We offer a full suite of loan products, credit cards, and mortgages.
Investment services. ActorsFCU members have access to the services and advice of our partner Gary Ginsberg, FINRA/SPIC.

How To Open An Account?

STEP ONE: Complete our fillable PDF application

Open our PDF application
If you want to add a free checking account, check the box for "Checking (draft)"
If you want a free VISA debit card, check the box for "VISA Check Card"
If you want to receive statements and other notices electronically, check the box for "eDocuments"
If you want the ability to deposit checks using your smartphone, check the box for "App Deposit"

STEP TWO: Print your completed application

STEP THREE: Submit your completed application and required documents via Secure Email*

Please email us at invite@actorsfcu.com to request a secure file transfer.
We will email you back within 1 to 3 business days with an invitation to our Secure Email services
Once you receive our encrypted email, simply reply with the following attachments:
- Completed form with wet signature(s)
- Copy of Valid Government-issued photo ID(s)
- Proof of membership eligibility (e.g., Equity card, SAG-AFTRA card, etc.)
- Proof of address (e.g., utility bill or lease agreement) if the address on your photo ID does not match the address listed on your membership application

*If you do not have the ability to submit your application via Secure Email, we can also accept your application and documents via USPS mail or fax. Applications should be submitted to the ActorsFCU Branch that is nearest to your home address. Applications that are submitted via mail or fax may require additional time for processing. STEP FOUR: Receive confirmation from Actors Federal Credit Union

Once we have received the completed application and all supporting documents, the package will be assigned to a new account representative. You will receive an email with the name and email address of the assigned representative. Please note that incomplete packages will delay the processing time.

STEP FIVE: Fund your new account.

Your new savings account requires a minimum deposit of $100 to satisfy our minimum balance requirements.
