How Our VISA Cards Protect You

Though the chances that you will face card fraud are still low, plastic card compromise is always a possibility. While there is no way that we, or any other financial institution, can stop merchant databases from being compromised, the following standard industry practices are built in to protect your credit and debit cards.

Card Protection Features

Personal Identification Number (PIN)

You are assigned or may choose a 4-digit code (PIN) to be entered for any PIN transaction. Never disclose your PIN to anyone. If you think your PIN has been compromised, Member Services will change it anytime you like. You just have to stop by one of our offices and they will take care of it for you.

Card Activation

Cards are shipped to you in “inactive” status, with an assigned PIN sent separately. You must call a toll-free number to activate your card, using information known only to you.

Card Verification Values (CVV)

The 3-digit CVV security code following the signature panel on the back of your card is requested by merchants to protect transactions on the Internet, by mail or fax, or over the phone.

Expiration Date

The expiration date embossed on your card must match the expiration date on file for your card.

Daily Limits

Daily spending limits protect your account in the event of any compromise.

Falcon Fraud-Detection System

ActorsFCU’s VISA Debit Cards and VISA Credit Cards are protected by Falcon Fraud-Detection System. Their agents, acting on our behalf, will contact you if suspicious activity is detected on your card. It is important that we have your up-to-date contact information—cell phone numbers, working email, and address—in order to serve you efficiently and promptly. Personal Information Change Form.

On rare occasions, if they are not able to reach you to verify a transaction is yours, the system may prevent a legitimate purchase that is out of your normal activity pattern. If that happens, follow the directions below.
